Adelphi Hotel – An Easy Project?

As a commercial construction company we can pick and choose the projects that we tender for but sometimes you need a challenge! The Adelphi project is just that. The contracted works are not difficult by any stretch of the imagination but logistically it is extremely complex and we believe that these types of projects can be very rewarding, they are also viewed by other builders as ‘ugly’ jobs. The end result will be brilliant not to mention the fact we are working on an iconic feature of the Melbourne landscape – the overhanging pool. The Adelphi Hotel was originally remodelled by Denton Corker Marshall back in the ‘90’s and created a media storm with the inclusion of the overhanging glass bottom pool. We are now in charge of bringing this iconic feature of Melbourne back to life – something we are very proud to be a part of.

Adelphi Hotel – A logistical Nightmare!

As this photo clearly indicates – it is a tight site! No project is easy and especially ones in the heart of the CBD. Road closures, council permits, notifications to residents, notifications to business owners the list goes on. It was a cold Saturday morning when this shot was taken and as you can imagine there was not much room for error on the part of the crane operator with adjacent buildings only metres away.

Adelphi Hotel – Rooftop Refurb

Demolition well underway at our rooftop pool refurbishment in Flinders Lane. The steel pool shell has been cut into sections so it can be removed with as much ease as possible. You can tell just by looking at the internal faces of the steel just how much the rust had taken control.
